Anyone know where these are made ? Quality rating 1-10? Looking at a D1-4, 8", 4 jaw, seems kind of pricy for an import. Thanks, Jim

I recently got one of these as well and also curious where they are made. Willis Machiney in Ohio was getting rid of some NOS surplus chucks a few years ago and it seems like they were Yama... and made somewhere you would not expect...Sweden ! But I could be having a false memory on the name...

I'm looking at one of these now. 150 bucks looks new, in the box with a D1-4 Camlock backplate.
Any information is appreciated.

i have an 8" 4-jaw yama chuck , made in Taiwan . nothing special , but not awful
either- decent grind, D1-4 fits my spindle nose well....reasonably accurate.
could be a lot worse . if a Shars chinese chuck gets a D-minus , and a Kitagawa
gets an A , my Yama chuck is about a C+ .
