An add just came in the mail today about the new and improved shopmaster 3-in-1. All comments about this machine are welcome please. I am not a machinist by trade. I am not looking to make money. I want to do a little machining at home as a hobby. I have definately ruled out Harbor freight. I just want to know more about the quality of this machine. Thanks.

Shoptask is a reasonably good 3n1 machine, probably a good bit better
than HF, similar to Griz or Smithy. Shoptask is a bit more innovative
in their designs than Griz, and until recently Smithy, but Smithy
has caught up. IMO however, if you have the space, you would
have better machines with a $2100 or less 12x36 and $800-1000
mill drill from HF. Cost would be similar and work capacity much
better and the quality is comparable, unlike the 3n1 or smaller
lathes from HF. The separate machines would run rings around the
3n1 if you have the space.
