Adjustable boring bar, do I have a use for it?

I bought an adjustable boring bar at a yard sale today along with 10-15 pounds of other tooling. I do not understand the point of one for manual machines. I have a boring head for the mill and the lathe QCTP has a boring bar holder as well as a cross-slide and compound. I thought it was some kind of threading tool when I saw it.

Might be desirable in a gang tool setup, but not likely necessary unless you can't change an offset without affecting something else. Anyways, you're set, now you've got one, just in case.

I'd use that in a CNC mill. It allows you to reach deeper than with a boring head and short bar, with more rigidity.

They turned the shank down so I guess I may have a boring bar holder for the lathe that may take the turned down bit. My mill does not go as large as the original bar diameter anyway.
