Thread: advice on Colt TY 7 x 20 metal lathe

I am completely new to machining and looking for a hobby lathe to make a few parts for restoring old motorcycles.
I found a slightly used Colt TY 7 x 20 metal lathe. It has a stand and a few misc tools. He is asking $600. Is this a reasonable price? Is the Colt (made in Taiwan) brand OK for a hobby machine, or is it just going to be frustrating junk?
If anyone has any experience with these lathes, I would appreciate any advice. Thanks.
