looking for big expanding mandrels

Big as in 5 to 6½+ inches. Arbor about 2 foot long with sleeves at least 10 to 12''. Can't seem to find any. Maybe not even made? The largest I've got is: 4½ to 4¾ which doesn't come close. K O Lee makes them only to 5½''.

You might try Rovi collets I know they have id collets up to I think 6 inches.

Thanks Jims, but they're only 2'' long. Need much longer with outboard end to a live ctr.

The old standby:
Home - Cameron
For Speedgrip, you'd probably want an STN-DB6 chuck. That will take up to a 7" dia mandrell.

We've been getting a lot from Drewco lately
DREWCO Custom Collets

Don't understand why you need such a long mandrell. We run 5' long parts off 4" mandrell sleeves.

For something that size try these folks, they might be able to stear you toward another vendor for steel ones if you want.

+1 on Drewco. Their prices are high, but their collets are great.

We sent one back to them that had been crashed and their "rebuilt" was pretty laughable. Although, I don't know how much can be done to a collet after it's cut.

A friend of mine has an idea for cutting big cylinders. Finish both ends and all other machining with one setup. Should work if long enough. That Drewco center arbor looks promising if a big enough dia. is available.

Yea I have looked at those Xpandrels a couple of times but never did price one out as my uses were too sporadic.

That's what we do all day long. Bores from 1" to 30" and lengths over 72" Hone the ID and put them on a mandrell.
