Why are so many of the old posts on the forum broken, in the way shown in the title? i.e. instead of showing the smiley face, they contain the text

My guess would be that the image file that the old BB software used for the "smile" emoticon has a different name under the new forum software. When you load an old post, the software looks for the "smile.gif" file, and fails to find anything with that name (or is looking in the wrong place), and displays the tags and filename as a default.

Could probably be fixed by making a second copy of the appropriate file from the new software, and renaming it as "smile.gif", and placing it in the correct directory.

Fixing this is apparently as important to Don as fixing the ongoing clock problem is...
