Hello,
We're getting closer to firing up our new (to us) #2 Cinci, and we're trying to figure out what kinds of lubes we need. We have the manual for the machine and here is a list of the "old" lubes they have for it.

Knee bearing surface on column:
Medium mach. mineral oil. Vis. 190 to 210 saybolt at 100 F

Vertical screw:
Extreme pressure oil. Special heavy S.A.E. EP-250 grade or its equivalant.

Arbor bearing screw, Saddle parts & knee bearings, knee parts, All parts in column:
Medium mach. mineral oil. Vis. 190 to 210 saybolt at 100 F

We have the schedule of when your supposed to oil the machine, but we dont know what the modern equivalents are. Anybody know?

Thanks
Richard

For the first and last you want an ISO 46 circulating oil. That should be right at 209 on the saybolt scale. You can pick up some ISO 46 in 5 gallon buckets, as well as some EP gear oil, at a local tractor supply for cheap.

Yep, ISO-46 on about everything except the vertical screw.

SAE-250 is really some thick stuff, that's about ISO-1000! Probably the heaviest that you will find at most parts stores would be and SAE-140 (ISO-460). About the only thing that comes close is Mobil Hecla super cylinder oil. That's an ISO-1000, but not EP. The highest viscosity EP gear oil that I know of is ISO-680 (Mobilgear 636)
