Clausing power feed...

Have an issue with the table power feed on a Clausing model:8520 mill. The motor works fine in one direction, but runs very slow in the other direction. Any thoughts on this? Rheostat switch or something with the motor itself?

What does it feel like when you hand wind the table ? Is it the same in both directions ? Regards Tyrone.

Hand feed is nice and smooth in both directions. Even if you turn the power feed on with it dropped down and disengaged from the gears, it still is very slow in the one direction with no load on the motor. It doesn't turn at all until you turn the speed control up to about 1/2 way or so and then it increases speed slowly as you turn the know but only turns about 1/4-1/2 the speed as the other direction. Any thoughts on this matter.

Thanks so far guys, but I am pretty sure it's an electrical issue as the motor itself turns slowly in one direction. Any more ideas. Again thanks and I appreciate the info.
