    Default Clausing model 111 lathe

    I'm in the process of putting a Clausing model 111 back together after cleaning and painting. I noticed that there is a lot of back lash in the longitude rack gear and the gear on the carriage for the hand wheel. is this normal? If not what can be done.

    Is the pinion worn? They are not normally a "tight" machine.

    The pinion shows a little wear but it seems loose to me a lot of back lash.
