Some time ago I saw a motion system which used an aluminium box section extrusion as shown in the attached model.
The section was about 4" (100mm) square, had a circular lug on each cornerand had a series of elongated slots. The sections were about 12' (4m) long.
There was a carriage with a set of rollers which located on the corner lugs, and an hydraulic motor with a spur gear which engaged with the slots enabling the carriage to propel itself along the section.
Has anyone seen anything like this or could you suggest a possible manufacturerView attachment Traction Beam.pdf?
