We need to find a source for higher volumes of medical grade autoclavable plastic. Maybe Obama says inflation isn't happening, but judging by the rapid rise in prices of plastics I tend not to agree. At any rate we have been using a fair amount of 1" thick Acetal (Delryn) to build prototype medical parts, and Ultem for the finished products that are ultimately built for consumption. We need to find a source that deals in larger quantities. Most of the local suppliers only want to stcok 2' x 4' sections once you get to 1" thick, and I'd prefer to buy in 4' x 8' sheets.
I've got prices all over the board for the Ultem running from just over a couple hundred $ to over $400 a square foot. Surely there must be a cheaper source. I need something like 1000 pieces 20" x 9.5".
The parts are typically all different so injection molding is out of the question, but 3d printing is starting to look like a good alternative.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Stu
