I have a bunch of guide posts. They range in size from 5/8 to 1 1/2 in dia and 6 to 12 inches long . Most new or like new but some are starting to get some rust spots. What material are they made of ? They seem to be hardened. Would this be good material to make other projects and tools out of ? Or should I just keep some of them to use with the shop press to help press things apart? Any good uses for them other than there original use? Mark

Hi John I posted to see that those wiser than I had to say. So just for kicks and gigles I chucked one up and turned one. Blue chips no matter what speed and feed. Maybe with the right insert and some playing around I could get a good finish. Mark
