Need to make some stainless shafts. Must drill and tap 1/2 20 holes 3/4" deep in each end of the shaft...Which material would be the easiest to work with, 304 or 316?

If I had the choice I would have someone else tap them lol.
They are both nasty materials to tap, can you go with a 303SS?
Both form tap really well, much more dependable process.
