Electrolysis question

Hi, I'm to rust threat a fairly large part to remove rust from it, however I'm worried that the sacrificial metal's surface area is smaller than the treated metal part. Is electrolysis possible with a smaller surface area sacrificial part Or will it go horribly wrong? Thanks

It will work fine.

Small anode means it will generally take longer (lower currents), get dirty quicker (current falls), and you will need a higher voltage for a given current. Also, watch out for "throw". i.e field density from the anode to the cathode. You may need to move the anode or part for full removal of rust. Generally - best to have the anode spread out even if the total area is smaller (usually is).
