Evraz Claymont Delaware Under Deconstruction

Plate mill that had an auction earlier this year is starting to come down.
Took a shot with the cell phone while waiting in the turn lane today.
This end of the building will probably be on the ground next week.

Deconstruction........Is that the same as "demolition"?

No deconstruction means taking it apart and recycling stuff , demolition means all scrap no salvage.

the actual mill equipment was auctioned off in March.
At least, the stuff that was saleable.
It was a plant that remelted scrap to make plate, and pretty old machinery.
The russians have owned it for a while now, and it was losing money, and they decided it wasnt worth putting money into.

The same company, Evraz, owns mills outside of Portland, and in Pueblo Co, as well as several mills in Canada, all of which are still making steel.

Demolition deconstruction not a whole lot of difference in meaning.
The first sections of buildings coming down are what appear to be at the end of the rolling mill process.
That's about 1/4 mile off the road.
The building in the above picture was used at one time for storing dish heads.
I know in the 80's they were making heads, but not sure where in the plant.
Probably if I didn't have a full plate I'd go and watch during the next few months.
They don't appear to be rushing the work.

The building that appears to be one of the oldest is the machine shop.
3 story brick with a tall door at both ends.
It would be nice if they saved that.
There's also what may have been the original office building not far from the machine shop that could pass for a cozy little farm house if it wasn't sitting under the shadow of smokestacks and a preheat furnace.
