I have been making Aluminum investment cast molds for the past 5 years. Now I am Machining hard material again like Titanium and 304 SS.
one of the jobs I have to do here is using a old P.O.S Cincinnati Arrow I have to face of 10x10 plates they have about .1 to .25 of material left from the EDM on the plate (The plates are used in 3D printers like E.O.S and Renshaw) I have built a sub plate to bolt them directly down to they where using a vise the bolting them down work a lot better. Now I need to figure out the tooling for the job.
All of the face mills around here have been beat up pretty bad I was looking at buying a 8 flute face mill what should I be looking at and what speeds and feed should I use
most of the plates are 1018 with a harder material attached to it attached is the wrong word its more like welded but not welded i know that does not make any sense but that what it is.
any help and advise is greatly appreciated
