I need one for making an adjustable chuck stop on my clausing 6918-15" x 48" lathe. It might even be nice to have a couple around. Clausing has a #4 1/2 to #3 MT reducing sleeve for about 70 bucks. Wondering if any of you have sources cheaper than clausing for this odd animal or am I going to have to go with them? Thanks

For purposes of a stop, it doesn't have to be too accurate. Set your compound up with an indicator in the spindle taper (make sure you are on center) to get the angle, and turn the thing. Then, you can drill and tap with the new blank in the spindle. Shouldn't take an hour. I did this for a 5C collet adapter and several other adapters on my little Rockwell-which had a 4 1/2. They worked very well.
