Lifting a Bridgeport Series 1 CNC

I picked one up off of a low trailer with a forklift, putting a wooden 4x4 under the overarm, rather back away from the spindle. Seemed to work fine, tho' I nicked the housing for the speed controller and had to repair that.

Seems like a chain around a 4x4 might work with a sturdy hoist.

Keep in mind the machine, loaded with the tape reader and the electrical box is really close to 3,100 lbs.

Good luck and stand clear,

Remove the plastic "Bridgeport" emblem from each side of the overarm. There's a fist sized hole on each side of the casting you can sling through. It's a little front heavy, but not too bad. I lift them with a sling long enough to lag them to a custom pallet I made. Then, I lift the pallet with the forks.

thanks guys, johnny, that sounds solid.....machine is 86" or so high and opening is 85 so i was hoping for something where it would balance on a bit of an angle, sounds like that would do the trick
