All mechanical bearing systems have a rated life, which they can exceed or fail before depending on use and luck. Sort of like humans - we can make it to 80+ or kick-off at 40, even if both parties had identical lifestyles.
If you're a prototype shop without pressure for throughput, run the spindle slower, it will likely extend bearing life. If part output is critical to the company, run full-bore and budget for replacement or repaired spindles along the way.
