The slugger earned its keep today! Sometimes the magnetic drill is the hot setup, even on stainless, if the part is large heavy or awkward.
Yes the first one could have been done on the vertical mill, but it had legs that got in the way, and would require rotating and then retramming the vise.
And yes, the second could have been done with a hand drill and a step drill, but that would have sucked, and been a bit harder to locate too.
