That saw and mill move

The saw and mill got moved this past week.

As it turned out, it was fine. However almost EVERY piece of advice had to be disregarded......

The truck that actually showed up for the work was NOT the high-box ex-Ryder, but a low-top semi.

All the dock doors are high ones EXCEPT ones in the middle of the path the machines had to take at the new location. Net result was that there was nearly no lift room, and so methods had to be modified....

The mill wasn't much trouble. But the saw, which is 18 feet long, also had about 1" height clearance in the truck and at some of the dock doors. So we could not even get runners under it.

We ended up with a forktruck at one end, a low plate dolly in teh middle, and a pallet jack at the other end. Had to let it down off them to get thru dock doors, etc.

However, the advice about the saw carriage was very good. Thanks.

All arrived safely. Naturally I did NOT know that was the day until it arrived, and so did NOT have the camera.....Sorry.

But I though a report would be appropriate, after the very good advice presented by many here. Thank you. Even though we couldn't directly use much of it, it certainly gave us the important points to be dealt with.

Good deal, the end result of having everything safely moved is the golden charm in the end.

Fits kinda with Murphy's Laws, the best laid plans have nothing to do with what happens on the actual "day", and any job that looks straightforward will end up to be twice as hard. ;)
