Hi folks.

To use as wheel studs, I am trying to source 8 studs in the following size:

M12 with a 1.5 pitch with a length of over 70mm with a full thread with a head - hex, socket, i'm not fussed. Probably 10.9 grade?

I can't seem to find these anywhere on the web - lots with unthreaded shank, but I need a full thread from head to tip.

What are my options in terms of can these be bought over the shelf?
can they be made up?
would anyone on here be able to make them up?

Any advice or assistance greatly appreciated.

Denis

What is an M12x1.5???
Standard metric is M12x1.75, metric fine is M12x1.0
Are you sure about this pitch? Is it a special automotive standard?

Benta.

It is a secondary size, common for auto wheel studs. Could you buy a piece of alloy threaded rod, cut it and weld a head on it? This is the material that is redly available.

Medium-Strength Alloy Steel Threaded Studs and Rods—ASTM A193 Grade B7

Considered the standard for bolting pressure vessels, valves, and flanges, these studs and rods are made from chromium-molybdenum AISI 4140 alloy steel. Length is measured from end to end (unless noted). All lengths have a Class 2A thread fit, maximum Rockwell hardness of C35, and minimum tensile strength of 125,000 psi.

My advice would be to buy Mc Master Carr 91180A758 and chase the remaining shank with a single point on a lathe, or buy a threading die.

Shipping to Ireland is probably cost prohibitive...
