Manual gear hobbing, changing hob during hobbi process? And craters in tooth surface.

Hello.

I'm having manual gear hobber Pfauter P300. There's one thing that I've been pondering. There are available hobs for roughing and finishing. Is it possible and if then how come manual gear hobber can be used with different hobs during one gear machining?

My experiment is, that it's "impossible" to get machined piece aligned with hob, if for instance, it's been detached from machine during hob process.

In addition, some manufacturers suggest moving hob in axial direction for finishing. This would not without CNC/Automatic hobber either, or manual hobber should have some sort of feed for this purposes?

May I also make one OT question. I've got hobs grinded/sharpened in one store. After sharpening the tooth surface is very smooth but... sometimes in bigger cutting depths, there are small holes/craters in toth surface. Like there would be some slack in the machine which randomly generates these craters. Earlier, when hobs were not that sharp, the surface was clean. Would anyone have any help/assistance to give, how should I try to fix this issue? You know, machines, especially old ones always have slack, so getting all slack away shouldn't be an answer?

Thanks, waiting for professional answers :)
