Looking for a machinist at UND physics and Astrophysics
University of North Dakota Physics and Astrophysics department is looking for a machinist. If you know someone who does old fashioned (non-computerized, non-numerical) machinist work please read on. Due to a tight state budget this is a part-time position. I don’t know why the position is not posted on the standard website at UND yet but here is the description circulated around on campus.
“The Physics & Astrophysics Department is seeking applicants for a Maintenance Mechanic. This individual should be able to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrate problem solving skills and have experience operating lathes, milling machines, drill presses, surface grinders, hydraulic presses, gas and electric welders and various other hand and power tools.
If you or someone you know is interested in this position and have any questions, please contact (Physics and Astrophysics Chair) Kanishka Marasinghe by phone 777-3560 or by email kanishka(dot)marasinghe(at)und(dot)edu ."
Our university is located at the ND-Minnesota border in Grand Forks ND, 80 miles south of the Canadian border. UND is a comprehensive university including a law school, medical school, colleges of engineering and of liberal arts, and is well known for its programs in aviation and aerospace science. The campus spans 548 acres. The city's Greenway along Red River (and Red Lake River) spread over 2,200 acres including 20 miles of multipurpose, well maintained trails. K12 public education system in Grand Forks is excellent. If you would like a quiet, relaxed, healthy, rather poetic life you would enjoy living here.
Hope someone applies for the position,
Mizuho Schwalm (UND Physics and Astrophysics lab supervisor)
