Mentoring "To be great Machinist prospects" best Practices please. I want to help.
I have been doing this for a while and over many years I have done many many things I am proud of. I have been getting in younger people and some around my age who need to learn more about the trade. I will tell them that I believe developing valuable traits of Character make a superior Machinist because they commit, Learn, and progress.
How to use all of the precision tools , how to hold the parts, ect, ect, and add infinitum. Often they get overwhelmed, confused, and frustrated. They never will walk away to calm down and reboot for a small amount of time to see the issue/problem and are too proud to ask for help.
It is also annoying I must admit training a new person at times yet someone has to do it and my mentors did it with me and were not always nice to me in doing so. That said I go a different tact yet fight the fact I can do that way also and will if I do not reign myself in.
Any input and advice or processes will be appreciated. In our trade we must train the next generation.
Thank You Kindly my colleagues in advance,
Spinit
