I've recently begun machining stainless steel and I've been looking for a new all purpose oil to use with it. The machining is being done on a New Britain spindle machine using 304L stainless steel. I've been consulting with some other people on what to use and the last option they gave me was terrible. After asking again, they suggested I use Castrol Ilocut 5770 and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with it and could tell me if its any good for this type of application.

Any advice or tips would be much appreciated.

Here we use Chemtool Inc. NuSol 21 coolant. That said... When machining stainless I have found that the tooling geometry is far more important then coolant.
