Can someone tell me where I can purchase an adapter that convert my lathe's MT5 spindle taper to the taper appropriate for closing a 5C collet? In other words, I want to use 5C collets in my Morse taper lathe, and I need an adapter.
Thanks!

They are on eBay from time to time. The trick is that different lathes have different dimensions on the approximately 5MT spindle bores. The adapters have to have a shoulder so they can be ejected from the spindle. If the adapter is a few thousandths too small at the big end of the taper, the shoulder will keep it from going into the spindle far enough to get tight. If you specify what lathe you have you may find a seller that can guarantee his adapter will fit.

Buy a soft morse taper adapter, cut the tang end off, and make you own. It does not take long to do, and you know it fits your lathe. It was one of the first things I made- and often used.
