Hi Guys- been trying to research a milling machine that I'm considering, and can't find all of the info I need to evaluate, any help would be most appreciated!

This machine is what looks to be a 1940s No 2A Universal (light type?). The big thing I'm wondering is what the X-axis table travel is on it.

Summary of questions:
- West coast approx value - not testable under power (machines don't grow on trees like east coast :) )
- What would the exact model be? (2a light type)
- Any guess on MFG year?
- Specs- specifically x-axis table travel, feed rates
- Power: I only have single phase- there's 3 3-phase motors on this bad boy- rotary phase converter best option?

Super appreciate it guys!

Industry standard table travel 28" on #2

I always thought Light Types had the upper column extended out over the knee.

It is marked 2A - these serials went from 1034 in 1928 to 7352 in 1942

No 2 "LU" (presumed to refer to Light Type) serials go from 6222 in 1935 to 9200 in 1947. Look on the tag in the photo with the "RAP" number (which is someone's asset number) and see if that tag has such a number. If not there, will be stamped into machined cast iron elsewhere

1925 feed rates on 2A were 0.3 to 15" per minute - I would imagine this one is similar

This is not the later version shown in the 1953 Practical Treatise On Milling and Milling Machines by B&S

No intrinsic "value" other than what the scrap man would pay if was dragged across his scales - especially ones you cannot run to see if they are junk inside
