Hello,

Just trying to find out what make this old shear must be. About 1/4" capacity, I'd say. 64" blade length. Ugly, but works. Links below.

Thanks for any help. I'd like to hear from anyone with a 75% sure or more idea of what make this thing is. :)

I had one exactly like that in stock a few years ago. In fact I bought and sold it twice. I never figured out who made it and wondered if it wasn't homemade since it is a mix of cast and fabricated. I once had another mystery shear that was very crudely cast and had an overall odd look to it. years later I was in Grand Machinery and they had a photo of that and it turns out it was a Tiger that his father was importing from India way back in the 50s. No id any where

Thanks, surplusjohn. The thing is old as the hills, I'm assessing from all the square-headed bolts. Like the one you mentioned, there's no brand name, and I even have suspected it being home made because of some crudeness, like some pretty rough acetylene torch cuts and competent, yet still gorilla-like welds. Even with all that, I think it probably came from some production facility somewhere. Just wondering who this thing's daddy is.

Richard. Where and when did you get this? I bet this is the same shear I sold 3 or 4 years ago at auction. It looks dead on, not only the structure but the peeling paint. Even tho this is a crude old bastard it works and is a heavy cutter so it has enough utility to be worth draging across the country.
