Water pump input for school project

Okay, I need a "centrifugal" type pump style. It needs to pick up about 2 feet of water suction and lift water 2-4 feet.

Anybody know of a good cheap pump design? Remember we just college students.

I went through 3 pumps already. A piston pump, a drill attachment pump, and a magnetic style pump....

I need a pump that can spin on center style with little friction resistance.

Anybody have an idea?

What about a junkyard car engine water pump? You'd have to kluge something on to the intake port,maybe with epoxy, to be able to connect a hose or pipe fitting to it and figure out a way to power it.

Can you give a little more information about what you need? How fast do you need it to pump?, what do you want to drive it? Does it need to be self priming?... Harbor freight might be an option depending on what you are looking for.

between bearings or overhung? single suction, double suction or open faced impeller?

Surely you can find similar to this in USA.
Just put it in the water ,tape the float switch upright, to the body of the motor, and plug it in .
And of course you need an output pipe. A big bore roll up one is the best type .
It pumps at a hell of a rate, and right down to about half an inch of water .

I'm thinking maybe sump pump, it will lift water ten or twelve feet no problem and it is self powered
