OT Entry Job?

I've started school for a machining program that goes over a lot of manual machining, and cnc. Now I'm really eager to get out of retail. What is the most basic shop job out there? I only just started and my school projects are disasters so far so I'm not expecting to get a job cutting parts. Do any shops hire people to cut off stock or do some kind of labor? All the job ads I see are for actual machinists but no listings for shop hands. I've worked with the same company for almost 4 years now but have no motivation to keep working retail (Sam's club btw).

I figure if I can just get my foot in the door, maybe I can move up as I go through the semesters and get to where I can cut parts with tolerances making more money. Does this make sense to you?
