Aircraft pins?

I'm looking for a source of what I know as 'aircraft pins'. This is a pin with two ball detents sticking out at one end, which are held in place by a sprung central (inner) rod. When the inner rod is pushed axially against the spring it allows the balls to move and the pin can be withdrawn from whatever hole it is inserted into.

Is there another name for these, and if so what is it?

Obviously they would not be a desperately difficult thing to make, but I've always assumed that they are standards parts, so does anyone know where they can be purchased from in small numbers? Ideally, a UK source, but US is also 'doable'.

Thanks

Nick.

What size pins do you need? I could possibly get you some about 8mm dia x 40mm long approximately, can get you exact measurements tomorrow.

Try the following

Morse Industries (Stainless Steel) Release Pins
Ameca Positive Lock Pins
Pivot Point Positive Lock Pins
Holt’s metric fast pins
Ramset PIP pins

McMaster has a few styles, not exactly what you describe, but workable.
