On the body of this boring/facing head, there is a screw called in the manual a "locking screw". It is knurled around the perimeter and has 6 equal spaced holes in its face. There is a pin in one of the holes, and its function seems to be to limit how far the screw can be tightened. There is no mention of this function in the manual. My question is: is the function what I mentioned, and can the pin be moved to the other holes to increase the locking function? Or, if this isn't the function, what is the actual use of this pin?

The pin function is more to limit how far the screw can be unscrewed and get lost.
If you want to increase the locking function, just push the pin in the head body backward in its hole (it's spring loaded) and you're good for one more full revolution of the locking screw.

Make sure that your locking mechanism is complete (the screw pushes a 3mm ball in the head body, that distributes the load on two small rods. One for the carriage, and the other one vertically for the setting ring).
