Looking to purchase CNC VMC and Lathe

We are a small manufacturer with our own machine shop in Iowa. We make all of our parts on manual machines but are wanting to buy a CNC lathe and Mill. I was looking at a FADAL 2016 and a Standard Modern 17X 60 lathe. The lathe bed is a little too big for the space we have and the mill is fine but does not have the conversational programming we want. Both are in very good shape. The lathe is 25K and the mill is 17K. Are these good prices?

My question to you guys is what are good choices for a begining CNC machinist? Are these machines worth messing with or should we look around? I looked at some dealers on line and was over welmed at what is out there. Most place do not have the price online so you have to call and there are just too many to deal with.

Most of the parts we make are small (2 -5 ") diameter on the lathe and under 24" square on the mill. Mostly aluminum and HDP and some acrylic. Tooling is a concern for the mill. Is a R8 any good?
