I need to make a coupling since I broke one a horizontal boring mill (see my post on cone clutch angle if you want the story). I'm unsure of what material to make it out of, the original seems to be cast of some kind but my boss figures we'd be better off making the replacement out of 4140. The coupling's design is like the handles milling machines, with three 'teeth' that interlock. The shaft spins at 400RPM, and powered by a 20HP motor if that helps at all.
I did look into buying a replacement but the suppler keeps saying that I should use a chain coupling. Unfortunetly there is no way to reach in and attach or remove the chain with the box installed.
Hopefully I can get some advice.
