They are located in Chatsworth, CA and have a 100% feedback rating on eBay.

I have been looking at the Fadal CNC's. They say they have "Professionally Trained Fadal Specialists"? and the machines are fully re-manufactured. I don't know, I'm from the 'if it ain't broke don't fix it' camp. But if they really know what they are doing? I have to wonder if they really do everything they list, some would seem unneccesary. I would think they would do as little as possible.

The pictures they show are not always the actual machine and they say the machine is in the process of being overhauled.

One thing funny, they have reserve prices stated in the title of the listings, but they always get a lot of bids below it and don't sell.

Thier prices seem high, but if they really know what they are doing and the machines are like new again, then maybe it is not too bad? The 20 day return policy sounds good if you have experience with the machine and are ready to hook it up. I doubt I would even get the machine set-up in that time.

If it was me, I would try to contact some of the buyers. You can go into the feedback section, click on a buyer who left feedback, and send them a message asking to get in touch.

Dead, I bought a small Hauser Jig borer(Bore?)a schaublin 70 and a Meteor drill grinder from them. I used to spend alot of time machine hunting in the LA area. I would rank Machinery Exchange above average. And in whats out there today maybe well above average. This was 6-7 years ago. I think I delt with Bob. I think they are honest and legit. -matt

Hey I think FADAL is just a couple blocks away from them if I remember right.

Their feedback tells more than anything else. Over three years on eBay, roughly 40 sales per month, three neutrals, ZERO negatives. Pretty hard to sell a decent volume without a negative from some goofball with an attitude, but they've either managed to avoid said person or made that person happy ... either way, they've done an outstanding job compared to many, if not most, other sellers.

I've dealt with Machinery Exchange a couple times and never had a problem. I've purchased tooling from them and they sold a machine for me once. Always very easy to get along with and honest. I don't know about the "trained factory specialist" but Fadal is just down the street from them so certainly possible.

i've looked at some of their listings. never clear exactly what is included in the remanufacturing. one they recently listed still had the vintage 1986 control on it.

no direct experience with machinery exchange

Thanks for the feedback. I will certainly concider them as a source for a used machine. Sometimes when you need a machine, you need it now and can not wait for it to come up for auction. Their reserve price is basically a "buy it now" price.

Auctions at Reliable Tools usually have a lower selling price, but you have to wait a while for something you want to be listed.

So far I have not seen one of the Fadal machines they list sell in the past 2 months. They have a lot of bids, but below the reserve. I just wonder how many of their feedbacks are from a large machine purchase?
