I have been asked to harden a couple of shafts being used to hold up some screw augers. Material is 4140 and I have to heat to 1550F. Is this temp correct?
How long should i hold at 1550F and when i drop it into an oil bath do i leave it in until ambient. The material is 4" by 22" long.
Is there a specific oil to be used?
