The link below will take you to a large listing of scratchbuilt miniature engines, mostly patterned on aircraft types but with a few automotive and marine examples thrown in. All are impressive, and many are truly remarkable. Click on each photo to enlarge it and get to see all the detail. Be sure to closely examine the last item shown, a finished crankcase for a Pratt & Whitney radial engine.

The website presents Joe Martin as the sponsor of the exhibit; he is the owner of Sherline, the maker of tabletop machine tools frequently used to produce such projects.

Enjoy.

Absolutely outstanding collection. Denver was fortunate enough to have the collection on display at Denver International Airport for a few months a couple of years back. Quite inspiring and well worth going out of ones way to visit.

I love Barry Jordan's machine tools, have had pictures copied to my hard drive for years, but if we are voting, I will make an unapologetic plug for my good friend Rich Carstedt.

He as well as Jerry Kieffer are both featured on the Craftsmanship web site, live here in the neighborhood and are members of NEWMEB, Northeast Wisconsin Model Engine Builders.

See Rich's beautiful 1/16 scale model of the USS Monitor Engine running on YouTube.
