Good Morning, All --

At Mark McGrath's suggestion, I am cross-posting this from one of PM's European Machinery forums:

I'm interested in picking up a few European-made, machinist-grade steel rules as souvenirs of an upcoming European trip, but earlier-trip searching turned up only carpenter-grade metal rules. Obviously I've been looking in the wrong places.

I'd sure appreciate it if you can tell me the French and / or German jargon equivalent to "mill supply house" or "machine-shop supplier", or the names of European makers of precision steel rules.

Thanks,

John

I can’t help directly with the information you require, but in order to find the right words for ruler, I did a search on what is without doubt my favourite brand, Rabone (their satin chrome rules are excellent, and I find the dual inch/metric scales very useful). I searched in four languages, and these came up:-

http://it.farnell.com/rabone/0-35-400/righello-metrico-acciaio-r-less/dp/1388954

http://es.farnell.com/rabone

http://fr.farnell.com/rabone

http://de.farnell.com/rabone

In these links you can click on alternative options to get other brands. Alternatively, just do another search on, say, righello 150 mm to get more brands and suppliers.
