I posted last week reguarding which size tool post ( axa or bxa ) would be best for my Clausing 5900. I got some great replies and some valueable insight. I have decided to go with the BXA wedge type. With that said, my next question is, which chinese tool post seems to be the best ? I'm afraid I can't afford the real thing (aloris/dorian). I've seen the Phase II, Shars, Precision Matthews and some other no name ones. There seems to be nothing inbetween....
Thanks

I have no idea what to expect with regards to quality: http://www.a2zcnc.com/machinetools.asp

I think it's more along the lines of an AXA in size, but it's unstated. LMS has a no-name AXA for about $150 that takes tool holders of other popular QCTPs:

I'm as tight as a frogs ass in a snow storm, so I am interested in something along these lines. One thing I like about A2Z, is they have a "blank" tool holder for you to modify: http://littlemachineshop.com/products/product_view.php?ProductID=3445&category=1005208204 Not sure why I like that, but I do. :nutter:

Please let us know what you get and how well it works.

Edit: BTW A2Z is US made. Never seen their stuff up close and personal, but LMS is a decent place to deal with. Chris, the owner, is friendly, approachable and helpful. I just looked at the A2Z site again, and it looks like the largest their stuff is made for is a 9" swing, so even if it's good, it won't be near as sturdy as an AXA, much less an AXB.

Enco sells the Phase II QC tool post and holders at a very good price. I can testify as to it's good quality. I have bought extra tool holders from CDCO and am satisfied with them but you will have to replace the set screws in them.

For sure, get the wedge type tool post they are best.
