I had a recient threading job 10mm trapezoidal left hand.

Ordered inserts 27 U IR/L 10 TR MXC, 27 U ER/ L TRMXC.

Also ordered rights just to have on hand.

All 4 are ground identical the best I can tell (even used a comparitor).

Is this just to get me to stock 4 instead of 1 or what?

Looks to me I am going to have to use a tapered anvil to make these work.

Thanks for the help

That "R/L" means right or left. I don't know if you'd see an External vs. Internal difference with the projection, likely not but Carmex does list both. As for the helix it's likely built into the internal/external - just put on the one that gives you the right rake and then make sure that the insert isn't dragging in the cut near the end - likely the insert maker will tell you the range of diameters. Carmex lists theirs as good from 20 to 90 (about) with the standard anvil:

Carmex Full Catalog - Metric - Carmex Precision Tools - (Version JPG) - Page n° 48 - PDF Catalogue | Technical Documentation | Brochure

The rake angle is identical on both sides of the insert the best that I can tell.

Just didnt want to stock 4 identicall sets of inserts if I didnt have to.

Hadnt got the bill yet but figure somewhere around $30 per insert
