People who use ploys like this should be ruthlessly hunted down and exterminated along with all their associates.

Remind me never to send you people an email when I get mugged somewhere and need some cash to get home...lol

When I travel I usually take one of these along to handle just such emergencies.

I got them from a Nigerian prince that had to leave his country.

"...mugged in Manila...", LOL. Years ago, I got tickled in Thailand and the bitch took my wallet.

Yep, something I should have noticed first thing. The first part of the person's company e-mail address from the business contact and the e-mail request were the same - but a different e-mail servers. One was @XXXX.com for the real business, the request came from the same name but at @yahoo.com.

I've seen this scam a number of times but it must work cause they keep doing it.

It works a couple times per thousand or tens of thousands of mails. If they had to send 10 thou letters with 45 cent stamps on them, it wouldn't "work". Losing proposition.
You can e-mail 100 thou people at no cost, other than your ISP fees. One person falls for it, 1800 clear profit.
I agree, they should be hunted down and castrated, or worse, but SOMEONE puts loopholes in laws to make this kind of stuff "semi-legal". NOT a REAL crime. A scam. Sucker born every minute stuff.
I have gotten the Nigerian prince ting, though nobody ever actually sen ME a chest full of cash. My bad. I was too smart to fall for it, so I never got my chest. Guess I'm going to have to start sending cash, hoping ONE of them is legit. Then I could retire. Oh, WAIT, I already AM retired.
Maybe I won't take them up on it, after all.
Cheers,
George

Finally got through by phone, she had been busy all day calling her friends to tell them not to send money.
Pity there is no "open season" on scammers !!

Yep, scam!
I got one from a guy I know. LMAO!
First he'd never go to London, England. Second England would never let him in. Third he'd never ask ME for help. And finally, I'd never send him money for anything.
OK guy, but not when money is involved.

Scam yes, sophisticated no.
My yahoo account gets jacked every once in a while with crap like this. My mother in laws yahoo account got one about a month ago that sent Viagra adds to all her friends...Including her entire church choir, and Pastor.

Of course its a scam, the robbers wouldn't have left the passports there.

I'm rather surprised GregQ hasn't set up a site like this himself. I reckon it would be right up his alley!
