It'll take forever, if my experience with such things holds true. If you check Ebay, you'll find lots of cheap diamond saw blades, that's your best bet. Try to run them slower and maintain a water bath if possible, I used a slightly modified tile saw to cut 3/4" carbide endmill shanks down.
No No ,I have tried . I have a special built precision abrasive saw that uses non reinforced 7 inch by .040 wheels. I can cut a 1 inch drill in half in seconds. IT WONT TOUCH CARBIDE. As a side note ,the metobo wheels are usually fiberglass reinforce so they don't shatter but they don't cut near as well as a non reinforced wheel.I think a cheap diamond wheel would work. It would be best if you could do this in a small surface grinder. Good luck Edwin Dirnbeck
I cut carbide frequently. A grinding wheel won't touch it. A diamond wheel or a glass cutting bandsaw ( what I use ) is the only solution. Wire is another but it'll take a ( long ) while.
