Metric Amce Thread?

Is there any specification information for Metric Acme Thread? I got this job from customer in other state. He said O.D. is 40mm. I got sample of plaster mold and measured which is 6mm thread. I couldn't find in 27th Machinery's Handbook. I need to machine collar that will fit this 40mm x 6mm acme thread shaft.

AFAIK it's called ''TRAPIZOIDAL'' thread, close to acme but not quite.

Mc Master Carr has 40 mm acme threaded rod (97048A739) but the pitch is 7mm.

Wow, That was fast reply. Looked at the book. I am able to calculate for 6mm pitch from that MHB.

ISO Trapezoidal Thread
DIN 103 - OD 40 mm, Pitch 3 , 7 and 10
No 6mm pitch

Stub Metric Trapezoidal Thread
DIN 380 - OD 40mm, Pitch 7 and 10
No 6mm pitch

These two are for general use.

There are other trapezoidal threads for use on rail, locomotives, collets and plastic.
Check your pitch again.

6mm pitch

I know there is no standard 6mm pitch for 40mm diameter as I saw in MHB. I got the plaster mold sample which my customer spreaded on his 40mm thread shaft. I measured the pitch and it IS 6. My customer said shaft is 40mm major diameter. It is easy to calculate from 30 x 6m for 40. Had to use CAD because I need it to tell me the dimension pitch diameter with three pins. This is the only way I can to make it work.

Edit. Need to make plug for checking internal thread nut on the CNC lathe

make sure it is a single lead and look for left or right hand thread

Possible standard acme thread 1 1/2" - 4 ?

I thought so too. but the pitch is .236 for 6m. Checked inside diameter worn out brass nut which is 1.568. Too big for 1 1/2"
