    I do like those toe clamps and that Tiny Vise, something to consider if I ever end up making any money at this For now I'm gonna make a poor man's toe clamp, jack screws into the sides of the work. I'm sure if it lets go I'll be the first to know ....

    Cut your stock a little long. Use four small strap clamps to the corners. Cut off the sacrificial ends. Don't get it hot, or even warm. WRT tooling plate, my memories are not nice.
    The old shop had a two-piece vise: both pieces bolted to table through teeslots. Would work well here. Mostly used on horizontal mill to grab larger plates.
