A very straight forward Insert question that is hopefully not too dumb

Are any metric and imperial inserts equivalent in size and/or interchangeable?
I'm going to guess no since I can't find an answer anywhere or equivalency chart, but heck I can't find my keys and sunglasses most of the time so....
Thanks to anyone willing to answer.

For the most part, say 90%, inserts are made to imperial numbers.
The metric numbers are kind of a somewhat close approximate dimension.
This is because the original standard was developed in the US and the ISO was grafted on top of it latter.
Sandvick and some others do make true metric inserts for various cutters and one sees it in some brands of milling cutters but these inserts are only available from the original source.
The reason they make them metric is so that you can not go elsewhere.

Perhaps someday I should make a chart of all the standard inserts and put it on the net as the leg length vs IC is all rather confusing.
To a guy making inserts the metric numbers are crazy as they do not reflect exactly what size you are making and if you did make them to these numbers your customers would be very unhappy.
