What about a foundry/heat treatment forum?

Since I have been asking about HT oven information it occurred to me that foundry and HT are pretty major parts of the metal industry, yet there is no "breakout" forum for those topics the way there is for EDM, grinding, welding, etc.

I don't know if HT has enough variables to justify a lot of discussion, but foundry work seems like it has a lot of different aspects.

Anyway, I thought I'd throw the suggestion out for consideration by the PM management.

John, what about a metallurgy/HT and foundry/rapid prototyping split? That would be two new fora (shades of *******) but they do seem like different topics.

The Mitsubishi cylinder head article I just posted a link to made me think of associating RP with foundry work.

Hmmm - Haven't seen much RP mentioned here. Could be a good forum. Don't know where you would combine it. Don't know if there's enough for a solo forum. It's mostly the property of the CAD guys. Is there a place on the net for RP anywhere now?

not sure why we shouldn't just keep all those topics in one place... They all sort of relate to one another in rather intimate ways. I would be most interested in a foundry/metalurgy/patternmaking/prototyping/etc. forum... Bring it on!

just today i had the thought to see if the forums had such an area... i have been making dies and pins for my diacro benders out of stainless and was wondering if i could do some heat treating and make some that last a bit longer out of steel...

anyone have some tips?
