Ebay sellers..bidding on themself??? why

I am just curious why an EBAY seller would place an item for sale and then bid on that item right away? Apparently 7 Rivers Surplus has this going on. I looked at item #140162317868 and noticed there was a bid on it by n***n I thne looked at several other machines by the same seller and the same n***n bid on them as well. I looked at his profile and it says he is the seller???
I am not an auction afficionado so I may just be dumb. But, why do people do this??

His (n***n) last 10 bids have been with 6 unique sellers. Not sure if you can draw any conspiracies from that data...

So you think 7rs7777( 301) is the same person as n***n( 2474)? Why? Different eBay ID and different feedback number means different people in most cases.

By the way, n***n is just the first and last letters of the bidder's ID. It is eBay's latest attempt to prevent crooks from sending fake emails to unsuccessful bidders.
