Z Axis repair

I have a Miyano TSV25 that has some grumbling starting in what sounds to be the Z axis thrust bearing. About a year ago I put new bearings in the Y axis and had the ball-nut reballed and all has been good there. So I have a little experiance with what needs to happen except now gravity will be against me on this job and I'm a little concerned about getting the tool change height set correctly afterwards. Any advice that can be had I would gladly accept. Thumbing through my handy yellow parameter manual it looks like the grid shift is what may need tweaking once I'm fully assembled but still hoping there is a chance I could get it back together almost exactly the same only with less noise.
