Does anyone know a good method to refinish Damascus barrels?
One that you have used and can show pictures of the results?
Yes, I've searched and heard of someone's brother in law who used diet Coke. Or heard to use some acid or another.
And yes, I know about the dangers of shooting Damascus.
I don't mean to sound short, just sometimes questions get sidetracked. I'd like to see the results of the methods discussed.
Thanks in advance.

Knife makers frequently use ferric chloride for bringing out the pattern in pattern welded (damascus) knife blades. It is an etchant used for circuit board etching and is available at Radio Shack and other electronic type shops. I have never tried it on shotgun barrels but have used it on knife blades in a dilute form with great success.

I re-etched the damascus on an old parker double hammer 10ga last year. I used the circuit board etchant from radio shack. It was pretty cheap and did the job well. IIRC it took about 1 1/2 minutes total time. I let the barrels sit in the stuff for about 30 sec. then pulled and rinsed with water and baking soda.
You also have to get some good rubber stoppers to seal the bores.
Sorry I don't have pictures - sold the gun a few months later after complete overhaul.
